Go along the shore of the Tennessee River in downtown Chattanooga, TN and visit one of the top aquariums in the country. The Tennessee Aquarium is home to nearly 800 species of aquatic life. There are more than 12,000 animals featured all around the aquarium including ones from all corners of the world.
Start your trip through the Chattanooga, Tennessee aquarium at the River Journey exhibit. Learn about how rivers are formed and see many native Appalachian fish at one of the largest tanks in the venue. Look at the many Mississippi River delta fish on display. Watch for the Alligator Bayou, an exhibit that features a colony of alligators.
See some of the largest freshwater fish in the world in their own special tank. The alligator gar and stingray are among the giants of the water you will spot in the City of Chattanooga.
Go to the Ocean Journey section and see invertebrates like the cuttlefish and jellyfish. See various penguins swimming in a large tank.
Take a tour of the Tennessee River Gorge on a catamaran tour boat operated by the aquarium. Watch a movie on the IMAX theater at the aquarium. It features numerous films highlighting the wonders of the water.
