Get in the groove as you learn about the great history of soul music at the Stax Museum of American Soul Music. Situated in the City of Memphis, the museum features many exhibits and artifacts devoted to this popular form of music.

See a full recreation of an old Mississippi Delta church from the early twentieth century. This feature in Memphis, TN has been recreated to show how important the church was to the development of soul music.

Check out the beautiful permanent exhibits on display. Walk along the original dance floor used on the popular television program Soul Train. See the old El Dorado vehicle that was once owned by soul legend Isaac Hayes.

Learn about how Stax Records was important to the music scene of Memphis, Tennessee. Celebrate the work of great figures from Stax like Otis Redding, Sam and Dave, Albert King, Booker T and the MGs and the Staples Sisters. The venue also celebrates many other figures from the soul music world including Al Green, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder and Sam Cooke plus the contributions of Motown Records and the Muscle Shoals recording studio.

Visit the full-size recording studio on site. This is a replica of what many Stax artists used in the 1960s and 1970s.
