See the site of what was one of the largest horse farms in Tennessee at the Rose Mont site. The mid-nineteenth century farm and Greek Revival house was home to a horse ranch with around 500 acres of space. The house is located in the middle of the City of Gallatin.

Look at the distinct Greek Revival arrangement on this home. The columns around the front part of the home make this different from the typical Georgian homes that were built around this time. Notice the Creole influences around the home including the galleries that linked wings and the open-air hallways. These were heavily inspired by the trips to Louisiana that the original owner of the home took.

See where the rose garden was situated at the northern end of the property. The rose garden was planted there as a means of giving the garden a little more light. In fact, the house in Gallatin, TN faces the east as a means of keeping the sun’s heat from being too intense.

The Gallatin, Tennessee house still has a few buildings from its old horse ranch near the main home. The area was used for raising horses and cattle in many forms.
