You don’t have to go out to Athens to see the Parthenon. Just travel to the City of Nashville. The Parthenon of Nashville is a full-scale replica of the original building. It is of the same height of around 45 feet and is close to a hundred feet long.
Look at the design of the Parthenon in Nashville, TN and see the many accents that match up with the original monument. It was built for the 1897 Centennial Exposition as a celebration of Nashville being the “Athens of the South.”
See how the massive columns supported a perfectly parted roof surface while many of the sculptures from the original Parthenon are duplicated here. The Athena Parthenos statue has been perfectly recreated with a small statue of Nike paired with it. Walk inside the Parthenon to see this structure in all its glory.
Look up to see the detailed carvings around the roof area. The many scenes of heroic battles among Greek soldiers and their horses are reproduced around this important site in Nashville, Tennessee.
There is one key difference to note. The Nashville Parthenon is based off of the original design of the building whereas the one in Athens has partially decayed although much of it is still intact.
