Go just outside the Sunsphere in Knoxville, Tennessee to visit the Knoxville Museum of Art. Learn about the art of Tennessee and the Appalachian community and how it has evolved over the years. See some of the special touring programs coming around the region.
Move along the four stories that make up the Knoxville, TN museum and see various exhibits highlighting the beauty of Tennessee and the Appalachian region. Look for art pieces from such names as Lloyd Branson, Bessie Harvey, Beauford Delaney and Catherine Wiley. The museum focuses heavily on modern art pieces although some older ones dating back to the mid-twentieth century can also be found around the museum grounds.
Visit the museum during one of its special exhibitions. Various touring artists bring their work to the museum throughout the year. Artists such as Clare Rojas, Tam Van Tran and Seonna Hong have all had their art pieces on display in the past including both traditional and glass-based art pieces.
Attend one of the special art classes at the school. Learn about how art works and how you can produce your own distinct and special art pieces. Programs are available in the City of Knoxville for adults and kids alike.
