Step back into the nineteenth century as you visit the Bethesda Presbyterian Church. This historic church building in Morristown, Tennessee was also used as a hospital during the Civil War. The small building has a sturdy brick body that has withstood much of time.
Enter into the building to see where people celebrated mass dating back to 1835. See the wooden pews and pulpit that were used by patrons in Morristown, TN. See how the windows around the building have survived over the years as you look at some of their stress marks.
Observe a few of the old treatment spaces that were opened around the church in the City of Morristown. A few of these spots are still visible with a few examples of medical treatment tools featured around the church. It was a field hospital during the Civil War as doctors housed and treated the injured and cared for the dying inside the church.
Travel to the cemetery not too far from the church. The cemetery holds the graves of many people who died during the Civil War. These include people who died while they were treated at the hospital.
